The Conversation

The Conversations You Like To Have While Sipping Your Brew

Why do I feel this subject material I could start sounding like the skit from Coffee Talk on Saturday Live in the early 90’s. Of course some of you may have no idea what I’m referring to by that comment. If you do then I’m sure you are smiling. Well, and if you don’t. Check it out! You will get a good laugh out of it.

“OK, back to business. Yeah right…”

So what are the best conversations to have while relaxing with your favorite cup of java?
This all depends on who you are and how much you really just want to enjoy your cup of coffee.

Have you ever noticed, depending on location of course. What the subject material may be in a coffee shop?
Here is a break down of things I have noticed in different coffee shops and locations.

I’ve seen in college town coffee shops, students working on; what else… Homework.
Usually alone with there laptop, and there headphones jacked into it.
Even though you may catch once in a while a college couple on a date, after a night on the town.

I’ve also noticed for the college students who try avoiding the rowdy drinking crowd will some times head to the coffee shop to get a way from the madness and meet up with there friends.

Don’t get me wrong, I have seen once in a blue moon a group wonder in with the scent of cigarettes and beer after watching there favorite band down the road in a the local bar. Trying to get that last minute jump-start with java before heading back to campus.

Hmmm… How about that local coffee shop that is down the road in your town.
Yuppers, you guessed it. That ole’ time morning coffee crowd who likes there coffee black and have more information about the town in the morning, before the newspaper hits the sidewalk. I find this crowd always to be fun as well as interesting.
Oh, and you better not be shy if they invite you over for a “cup of jo” as they call it. They may take it personal if you don’t accept them on the offer.

One of my favorite coffee shops to visit is a city coffee shop. Wow… Talk about a world of everything. Here you will find students with an ipod or cell phone texting and jacked in electronically, as well as with the caffeine. Take in mind, doing all of this while still talking to there friends in front of them.

In a coffee shop like this I notice many people meet for business talks one on one. What better way than to hire or fire someone while sipping on a nice cup of coffee. Interesting.
As a matter of fact you can learn a lot by some of the conversations you hear in a coffee shop when it has to do with employees talking. I over heard once, two supervisors actually talk about whom they were going to lay off next week at the company they worked at. Now that is sad.

Another conversation I always find interesting is when two ladies meet at a table with coffee and start talking about one of their “best friends”. Something tells me after hearing their conversation I don’t think she’d be a best friend to them. But, maybe it’s the coffee talking?

Another one I see, but not often. Is a mother who is still in her pajamas and slippers with her little ones running behind her, late for school I'm assuming. As she grabs a coffee for herself to go, and a croissant and scone for the little ones as they go running back out of the door.

Well last but not least. Then you have someone like me who goes to the coffee shop to do what I do best. Get a good cup of java and chill. The word (chill) in this definition for me is: Chill out. That could range from listening to music, reading, writing, or just hanging out with friends or family talking about the weather and the day.
But, out of all of this my main focus is the coffee, and what joy it brings me to just sip on that fresh cup of java to start the day off.

Long story short, people of all sorts and kinds come to a coffee shop to relax. As you know relaxation can be what that one person considers as relaxing.
The good thing to know is everyone is there to enjoy the same thing, the coffee.
Whether it is café, de-cafe, latte, espresso, etc.
It’s a ritual that takes place around the world.
